Biografia
Motörhead é uma banda inglesa de Rock and Roll. Foi formada em 1975 pelo vocalista, letrista e baixista Lemmy Kilmister. É conhecida pelo seu peso e velocidade, que influênciou muitas bandas de heavy metal, especialmente o thrash metal, punk rock e hardcore.
A paixão do vocalista e baixista Lemmy Kilmister pela música o levou, ainda na década de 60, a acompanhar como roadie a banda de Jimi Hendrix. Sua estréia profissionalmente no meio artístico se daria com a banda Hawkwind que alcançou alguns pequenos hits na década de 70.
Lemmy foi despedido do HawKwind por ter sido barrado no aeroporto do Canadá por porte de drogas (na verdade se tratava de anfetamina). Decide então montar uma banda com o baterista Lucas Fox e Larry Wallis, chamando esta nova banda de Bastards, mas em seguida mudando o nome para Motorhead (uma gíria americana usada por viciados em anfetaminas) que foi o nome de sua última contribuição para o HawKwind. Lucas Fox foi trocado por Phil ("Philthy Animal") Taylor que era um músico amador e amigo de infância de Lemmy. Depois da gravação do que seria o primeiro álbum, On Parole, que não chegou a ser lançado pela gravadora por ser considerado pouco comercial, decidem chamar um segundo guitarrista para a banda, "Fast" Eddie Clarke. Larry Wallis logo sairia da banda, que voltaria então a ser um trio.
O primeiro álbum (auto-intitulado) foi finalmente lançado em 1977 por uma gravadora pequena. Overkill, segundo álbum, foi o primeiro lançado por uma gravadora grande, em 1978, gerando o primeiro hit da banda, o cover "Louie Louie".
Com Bomber (1979) e Ace Of Spades (1980) a banda alcançou o grande público e teve relançada a gravação inédita do princípio de carreira, On Parole, que havia sido desprezada pelas gravadoras quando de sua gravação original.
Em 1982 o guitarrista original Fast Eddie abandonou a banda, sendo substituído por Brian Robertson (que havia tocado com o Thin Lizzy), que não esquentou lugar em virtude da péssima recepção por parte dos fãs (e por se negar a tocar algumas faixas antigas), sendo substituído por uma dupla de guitarristas, Mick Wurzel e Phil Campbell.
O baterista original Philty Taylor também foi substituído por Pette Gill nesta mesma época. Philty ficaria fora da banda por pouco tempo, voltando logo após a gravação do clássico Orgasmatron de 1986 (cuja faixa título foi regravada pelo Sepultura). Com seu baterista original gravariam os discos Rock and Roll e 1916. Na tour de 1916 Philty novamente abandonou a banda, sendo substituído por Mickey Dee, baterista da banda de King Diamond (vocalista do Mercyfull Fate).
Em 1992 lançaram March or Die, seu maior sucesso comercial, com participação do guitarrista Slash (da banda Guns N'Roses) em diversas canções e uma parceria com Ozzy Osbourne na canção "Hellraiser" (também lançada por Ozzy no álbum No More Tears) e fartamente divulgada em rádios e MTV.
Após desentendimentos com a gravadora Sony lançaram Bastards (1993) por um pequeno selo germânico, tendo pouca repercussão, assim como os discos que se seguiram.
Após o lançamento do álbum Sacrifice o guitarrista Mick Wurzel abandonou a banda, que voltou a ser um trio.
